Viele Betroffene berichten, viel Zeit verloren zu haben, bevor ihnen die klinische Diagnose Blauzapfenmonochromasie gestellt wurde. Der Grund hierfür liegt darin, dass es sich um eine seltene Krankheit handelt und folglich ein auf Erbkrankheiten der Netzhaut spezialisierter Augenarzt zu Rate gezogen werden muss.
